Thank you to Dan Davis Design for calling me in on this job! This kitchen is gorgeous. It was nice to work on a project where all the decisions have been made for you, and all you have to do is figure out how to make it all happen! And then do it…
Having your kitchen remodeled is hard on families. It isn’t like on HGTV (these shows should be illegal, they give people all sorts of ridiculous ideas!!) But after the homeowners helped with the demolition, I gave them back their sink, just to try and make it a little more bearable. These floor tiles were monsters. You have the feeling that you are walking on a granite mountainside when in this kitchen.
This was the first time I had ever installed a kitchen where the upper cabinets were different than the base cabinets. I would not have thought to do this on my own, but they look great. I guess this is why some people utilize designers! I can truly say…”Looks Good From My House”…and absolutely mean it!!!
Working for Jim was awesome. He wanted his kitchen to be as close to perfect as it could possibly be. And when I performed a task really, really well…I was rewarded with food. Personalized food!
This sparkly mosaic tile was initially intended to be the backsplash. The granite counter-tops had so much personality, that this tile was going to be “a little too much going on”. It was a joint decision to take this tile (special orders cannot be returned) and install it in the kitchen nook. It is really cool and beautiful, but I still remember the pain of cutting hundreds of tiles on my wet-saw!
